Childhood and primary education Fr. Franklin hails from a village called 'Saverapura', which belongs to St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Paladka He was born on 22nd October 1973 as the fourth son of Late Mr. Ligoury D'Souza and Mrs. Lilly D'Souza. He completed his primary education at Higher Primary School, Guddeyangady; High School at Jain Pre-University College, Moodbidri and P.U.C. at Milagres College, Mangalore. He studied at St. Mary's Minor Seminary, Bannimantap, Mysore. He obtained his B.A. degree from the Bangalore University. In the mean time, he completed his Bachelor of Philosophy (B.Ph.) from St. Peter's Pontifical Institute, Bangalore. For experience, he worked as a Regent at the Shrine of our Lady of Health, Harihar and also as a teacher at St. Mary's School, Harihar. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Theology (B.Th.) from St. Peter's Pontifical Institute of Theology, Bangalore (1995 � 1999) From 1999 to 2005, he served the diocese at various capacities. First of all as an assistant Pastor at Infant Jesus Shrine, Challakere from1999- 2001. From there, he was promoted Parish Priest of Our Lady of Victories Church at Nagar. At the same time, he also became the Youth Director of the Diocese, the youngest in India. i.e., the Director of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) and also for Young Christian Students (YCS) and Young Student Movement (YSM) from 2001 - 2003. In the mean time, he obtained Master's Degree in Arts (M.A. in History) form Mysore University. From June 2003 to May 2005, he was the staff member of St. Peter's Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore, where he studied M.TH. in biblical theology. From June 2005 onwards, he has been appointed as Youth Director i.e., the Director for Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) and also for Young Christian Students (YCS) and Young Student Movement (YSM) as well as Charismatic Retreat Director of Shimoga Diocese. Youth apostolate is known as YUVA MITRA and Charismatic services apostolate is known as JEEVODAYA. From December 2005 onwards, he has been appointed by the Arch-Bishop of Bangalore as the JOINT SECRETARY for the YOUTH COMMISSION of KARNATAKA REGION. From August 2008 onwards, he has been aapointed as Regional Director of ICYM, Youth Commission by the Arch-Bishop of Bangalore. He renders his service for the prisoners of Central Jail, Bangalore. He is the member of PMI (Prison Ministry of India). |
