Balehonnur, March 18,2024: Fr Franklin D’Souza preached one day Lenten Retreat at Our Lady of Victories Church, Balehonnur, Diocese of Chikmagalur on 17th March, Sunday.

Fr Franklin D’Souza celebrated 7am Konkani Holy Eucharist and preached a homily on "If you love Jesus, witness him when you are alive". He also spoke on importance of Lent and holiness.

Retreat began at 9am with Rosary led by Bro. Sunil D'Souza and Bro. Anil Furtado. Then they led the Praise and Worship. At 9:45am Fr Paul D'Souza spoke Introductory words regarding the preacher and the importance of the retreat. Then Fr Franklin D'Souza spoke on, "Season of Lent invites us to set right our Conscience. He based his teaching on Mark 6:17-29.

At 11am Bro. Sunil D'Souza and Bro. Anil Furtado led the Praise and worship.

At 11:30am Fr Franklin D’Souza spoke on "Sin, Repentance and Reconciliation". He based his teaching on Psalm 32:1-6 & Romans 1:18-32. With various biblical references he convinced the faithful that how Jesus forgives our sins when we genuinely repent for them.

At 1pm was the Lunch Break. Again 1:45pm music team led the Praise and Worship. At 2pm Fr Franklin D'Souza prepared faithful for the Confessions. He based his preparation on Luke 15:11-32. He said for a good confession we need five things i.e., Remember, Repent, Reconcile, Renew then Rejoice.

From 2:30pm to 3:30pm 8 priests helped in the confessional. At 3:30pm Fr Franklin D'Souza together with the team led the healing adoration. He prayed for the students who are going write their exams in coming days. He also prayed for the couples, widows & Widowers, Youth and Children.

At 4:15pm Fr Franklin D'Souza celebrated the Holy Eucharist together with Fr Paul D'Souza. At 5pm Fr Paul D'Souza thanked the retreat team and all those who helped in making this retreat a successful one.

As Fr Franklin D'Souza is in his Sacerdotal Silver Jubilee year, Parishioners honoured him and wished him God's abundant blessings on his ministry.
