On Good Friday, the 18th April 2014 for the Way of the Cross at St. Andrew’s Church, Sector 28, Faridabad, the youth of the parish – ICYM SAYA (St. Andrew’s Youth Association) performed a live way of the Cross Procession in the vicinity area of the parish church, a walk of 2kms, at 8:30am in the morning. The passion of our Lord Jesus was completely prepared and enacted by the youth together with guidance from the Fathers – Fr. Thomas Chambakatt (Parish Priest) and Fr. Biju Xavier (Asst. Parish Priest).
The act was directed by Savina Devasia (Parish Youth President) and Flojo George (Youth Animator). The role of Jesus was enacted by Percival Holt (Youth Rep. Of the Parish & Regional President of Northern Region), he said “he is unworthy of this, yet he got a chance to feel a little part of what Jesus went through and touch the hearts of People, he feels blessed” and Mother Mary by Clevina Pinto, the newest youth member.
There were about 200 parishioners. Also neighbours of the church living in the homes of the route were seen showing reverence to this act with utmost faith. Parishioners were really touched by this live way of the cross, they felt the pain and agony of Jesus to some extent and some were even seen in tears.
The motive of the parish youth in doing this was to make the people feel and go through the passion of Christ in a somewhat live manner, and if this touches the hearts of few and they get transformed, the mission of SAYA as parish youth would be accomplished.
