November 21st 2021 : ICYM and YCS of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga bagged four prizes in the World Youth Day 2021 conducted at Shivamogga.

Diocesan Youth Commission "Yuvamitra" under the leadership of vibrant director Fr Pius D'Souza together with Diocesan Executive Committee of ICYM and YCS organised the Youth Day.

Various competitions were held for the ICYM as well as YCS units of the Diocese of Shimoga. 28 Youth of Our Lady of Assumption Church took part in the Youth Day. For the Synod Model Exhibition, Daring wonder Struck Task and Poster competition bagged first prize. For the Amazing Youth Dance Carnival they bagged second prize.

Bishop Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of Diocese of Shimoga was the chief guest of the concluding programme. Fr Stany D'Souza Dean of Carmel Deanery as well as Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Cathedral Shivamogga, Fr Stephen Maxi Albuquerque Chancellor of Diocese of Shimoga and Parish Priest of Infant Jesus Church Sharavatingar , Shivamogga were on the dais for the concluding programme. Mr. Vinod Sebastian of the parish was awarded with 'YUVAKEERTI - 2021' award for his achievements in the Youth Ministry during the programme.

Fr Franklin D'Souza, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Assumption Church Hiriyur as Well as Youth Animator of the Parish congratulated his youth for their achievements.
