February 9, 2020 : Legion of Mary of the Diocese of Shimoga celebrated its 17th Yearly Convention at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Shivamogga.

Program began at 8:30am with Rosary. At 9am Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of the Diocese of Shimoga celebrated Holy Eucharist together with Legion of Mary Spiritual Director Fr Franklin D'Souza. In his homily he explained how we have to become 'light of the world and salt of the earth". At the end of the Mass Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked the Bishop for his constant guidance and support. Legion of Mary president Mr. Vijayaratna Kumar honoured Bishop with a shawl and garland.

After the Mass all gathered in the "Snehabhavan". Convention was officially inagurated by Bishop Francis Serrao SJ.

Vice president Mr. Alwyn Quadras welcomed the dignitaries. Mrs. Philomena presented the report. Fr Franklin D'Souza, Fr Veeresh Moras, Sr Dorothy were present on the dais. In his address Fr Veeresh Moras appreciated the commitment of the Legionaries. In his speech President Mr. Vijayaratna Kumar thanked God for all the blessings. He also invited all the Legionaries to strengthen the Legion of Mary in the parishes.

Spiritual Director Fr Franklin D'Souza in his address said that , "Diocese of Shimoga is very proud because God granted us Minor Basilica at Harihar. We know how powerful is her intercession. We need to learn from humility, simplicity, generosity and sincerity of Blessed Mother". He invited all to strengthen the young girls Legionaries at the Diocesan level.
