Chitradurga, January 23,2024 : St. Sebastian's feast celebrated in grand manner by the faithful of Our Lady of Assumption, Hiriyur, Parishioners on January 21st,2024

It's tradition of the faithful that through the Intercession of St. Sebastian their houses were saved from the pandemic. There's a small prayer hall at Harishyandra Ghat, which is located 3kms away from the Parish. Every year faithful celebrate St. Sebastian's feast over there.

January 19th Parish Priest Fr Franklin D'Souza led the flag hoisting ceremony and began the Novena by offering Holy Eucharist and preached on the Courageous faith of the Martyr.

On 20th also he offered Holy Eucharist and preached on the sacrifice of St. Sebastian.

On January 21st festal event began at 6pm with Rosary, then Novena. Rev. Fr Santhosh Pereira blessed the Chariot decorated with flowers of St. Sebastian. Then there was a small procession. Both Fr Santhosh Pereira and Fr Franklin D'Souza took part in the procession. At 7:30pm Fr Santhosh Pereira, Rector of Apostolic House, Hiriyur, Bhadravati celebrated festal Mass. Fr Franklin D'Souza and Fr Nelson D'Souza concelebrated. In his homily Fr Santhosh Pereira spoke on the "faith and faithfulness". Through various biblical incidents he explained the importance of faith in our lives. He said that for all of us St. Sebastian is role model. He lived his faith, witnessed his faith and died for his faith.

End of the Holy Eucharist Rev. Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked Fr Santhosh Pereira and the faithful who contributed for the success of the feast.

Dinner was served for all those who gathered for the feast.
