Shivamogga, December 28, 2024 : The Christmas program for seminarians at Mallige Mane, Bishop's House, held on December 27, 2024, was a joyful and spiritually enriching event, thoughtfully organized under the direction of Fr. Franklin D'Souza, Director for Vocation Promotion and Formation.
The day commenced at 9:00 AM with the arrival of the seminarians, followed at 9:30 AM by a solemn Holy Eucharist celebrated by Bishop Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of the Diocese of Shimoga, with a meaningful homily given by Fr. Franklin D'Souza. The Eucharist was a rich experience of unity and thanksgiving.
Following a short tea break at 10:30 AM, the Christmas program began at 11:00 AM. Mario Aranha, the emcee, facilitated the events smoothly, while Alwin Lopes offered a warm welcome to everyone. The program included engaging games led by Nishanth and Glanson, which enlivened the gathering. A highlight was the inspiring Christmas message from Fr. Eugene Lobo SJ, reflecting on the meaning of Christ's birth and its importance to the seminarians' vocations. At 12:45 PM, the Angelus was recited devoutly, followed by a festive lunch at 1:00 PM. The program concluded with a heartfelt expression of gratitude from Fr. Franklin D'Souza and a special blessing from Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao SJ, encouraging all to carry the Christmas spirit into their lives and ministries. He distributed the prizes for the winners. He also gave each one of them a gift to commemorate the joy of Christmas.
The event was a meaningful celebration that combined prayer, reflection, and fellowship among all participants.
