Shivamogga, December 9, 2024: The Pre-Cana Marriage Preparation Course was held at Sannidhi from December 6th to 8th, 2024. The course aimed to provide engaged couples and other young adults with essential knowledge and insights for building strong and lasting marriages. The Family Commission conducted the program, which comprised presentations, discussions, and workshops covering key aspects of marital well-being.
 
Day 1, Friday, December 6: Program began at 9:30 a.m. The course commenced with an introductory talk by Rev. Fr. Venil D'Silva, the Family Commission Director. Fr. Venil outlined the objectives of the pre-Cana course and emphasized the importance of marriage preparation in the context of Christian life.
 
Sessions and topics covered:
* Financial stewardship: the importance of managing finances responsibly in marriage.
* Pro-life: an introduction to the pro-life philosophy with a focus on the sanctity of life in marriage.
* Complementarity between man and woman: understanding the complementary roles of husband and wife within marriage. 
 
Day 2, Saturday, December 7:
Sessions and topics covered:
* Interpersonal Relationships: Discussed the dynamics of communication and mutual understanding between spouses.
* Responsible Parenthood: A session on the moral and practical aspects of raising children in faith.
* Marriage in Canon and Civil Law: An overview of the legal frameworks governing marriage in both the church and society.
* Spirituality in Family Life: The role of faith and spirituality in fostering a harmonious family life.
* Marriage: Covenant and Sacrament: A deep dive into the theological aspects of marriage as a sacrament and covenant by Fr Franklin D'Souza.
* Sexual Morality in Marital Life: Addressed the ethical dimensions of sexual relations within marriage.
 
At 6:30pm Father Franklin D'Souza guided the members through the sacrament of Reconciliation, followed by individual confessions. Then he led the healing session and peayed for the participants. 
 
Day 3, Sunday, December 8:
Sessions and topics covered were:
* Communication in the Family: Techniques and principles for maintaining effective communication between spouses and within the family.
* Natural Family Planning: An overview of the methods and benefits of natural family planning as a natural approach to family planning.
* The Three Altars in Family Life: Discussed the importance of personal, marital, and family prayer in maintaining a strong spiritual family foundation.
 
Conclusion: The Sannidhi Pre-Cana Marriage Preparation Course provided a comprehensive curriculum equipping engaged couples with the necessary knowledge, skills, and spiritual understanding for building successful marriages. The program's multifaceted approach holistically addressed practical, spiritual, and ethical considerations relevant to marital success.
