August 21, 2024: Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga celebrated its Annual Feast on August 19th 2024.
On August 15th evening 6pm Very Rev. Fr George K. A. Rector of Our Lady of Health Minor Basilica, Harihara and Dean of Little Flower Deanery hoisted the Marian Flag and celebrated the Holy Eucharist.
On August 16th Rev. Fr Richard Anil D'Souza, Parish Priest of Infant Jesus Shrine, Challakere as well as Dean of Holy Family Deanery celebrated the Holy Eucharist and preached the word of God.
On August 17th Rev. Fr Alwyn Stanislaus, Manager and Corresspondent of Lourdes Boys School, Davanagere celebrated the Holy Eucharist and preached the Sermon.
On August 18th Rev. Fr Franklin D'Souza, Diocesan Youth Director of Diocese of Shimoga celebrated Holy Eucharist and preached a sermon on "Mother Mary and the Eucharist ". Being the year of Youth in the Diocese of Shimoga Fr Franklin D'Souza held special prayers for the youth of Hiriyur.
On August 19th, Monday, At 10:30am Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of Diocese of Shimoga was the main celebrant of the festal Holy Eucharist. He also preached a meaningful Sermon on the occasion. 18 priests concelebrated with him. He also distributed blessed candles for the donors.
At the end of the Holy Eucharist Parish Priest Rev. Fr Ronald D'Cunha thanked Bishop, priests and religious and the faithful for their generosity. Together with parishioners Fr Ronald D'Cunha felicitated Rev. Fr Stephen Maxi Albuquerque, Parish Priest of Good Shepherd Church, Gopala as well as Chancellor of the Diocese of Shimoga and Rev. Fr Franklin D'Souza, DYD of Diocese of Shimoga as they celebrated their Silver Jubilee of their Priestly Ordination. Those excelled in PUC and SSLC were honoured by the Bishop.
In the evening Rev. Fr George K A blessed the Chariot together with Parish Priest Fr Ronald D'Cunha, Assistant Parish Priest Fr Paul Crasta, Fr Alwyn Stanislaus and Fr Franklin D'Souza. Procession took place in the main streets of Hiriyur.
At the end of the Procession Fr Franklin D'Souza led the thanksgiving adoration and healing prayers.
Thus the 2024 Annual Feast concluded at 10pm.
