September 22, 2019; 'Jeevodaya' office for Diocesan Charismatic Renewal Services (DCCRS) organized one day pre constitution training for the Prayer warriors of the Diocese of Shimoga. Karnataka Regional Service Team Chairman Mr. Simon Rodrigues and co were the resource persons.
Program began at 9am with Rosary. At 9:30am KRST Secretary Mr. Anthony Raj and Harshith (key board) led the Praise and Worship. At 10:45am DCCRS Spiritual Director Fr Franklin D'Souza Welcomed the participants.
Then a panel session on "Commiting to the call of the Lord Jesus to serve in the Church" Moderated by Fr Franklin D'Souza. On the panel KRST Chairman Mr. Simon Rodrigues from Bangalore, Ex Chairman of KRST Prof. Michael Noronha from Mysore, KRST secretary Ms. AMORITA DeCunha from Belgaum, KRST joint Secretary Mr. Anthony Raj, KRST Treasurer Mr. Henry Machado, KRST intercessory incharge Mr. Wilfred Rodrigues, Mr. Arun Ambrose, KRST members; Mr. Tomy Podimattam and Mr. Albert Lobo were present.
Each one shared their journey in the service of the Lord in the parish prayer group, then in the Diocese and in the Region at present. It was really inspiring and enriching moment for all the prayer warriors gathered. Fr Franklin D'Souza also led the question and answer session. Session was closed for lunch with Angelus.
After the lunch at 1:45pm Mr. Anthony Raj together with Harshith led the Praise and Worship. At 2:15pm Mr. Simon Rodrigues spoke on "call to evangelize". He stressed need to understand the word of God and witness through personal commitment. He also spoke on expectations of the Church from laity today and importance of intercessory prayer groups.
At 2:45pm Professor Michael Noronha spoke on "Discipleship". He spoke based the Word of God what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. He narrated biblical characteristics which very much opposed to the worldly discipleship. He gave the example of "broadway and narrow way" from the Gospel. He stressed need of obedience, dedication and disciplined leadership in the Charismatic Renewal. With his wast knowledge he enlightened the prayer warriors who gathered.
At 3:30pm Fr Franklin D'Souza led the group in to their expectations. 53 members were divided in to 10 groups. He gave them three questions; 1. What do you expect from the Diocese of Shimoga regarding renewal?
2. What you expect from the KRST?
3. Your evaluation of days Program.
Participants were very Frank in their sharing.
At 4pm Fr Franklin D'Souza offered Holy Eucharist and preached a homily on "sincerity in spirituality". He explained Luke 16:1-13 "The parable of the Dishonest Manager". He said that we should use our gifts in the growth of the Parish Community, Deanery as well as the Diocese but not for selfish interest. He gave the example of St. Paul and his mission.
After the Holy Eucharist Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked everyone.He reminded the participants we have to constitute Diocesan Service Team (DST) as per the guidelines of the NCCRS and Karnataka Regional Bishop's Conference through KRCCS. He asked participants to inform the office regarding special charisms if they see among the lay people. So that Office can guide them in their Catholic faith and it's understanding of renewal.
On behalf of the KRST Mr. Henry Machado thanked the Diocese of Shimoga for hosting KRST Core Committee meeting at "Chaitanya".
At 5:30pm Program concluded with the tea.
