Shivamogga, February 16, 2025: The St. Vincent de Paul Society unit officially opened at Good Shepherd Church, Gopala, within the Diocese of Shimoga, on Sunday, February 16th.

At 8:30am, Father Franklin D'Souza, Diocesan Spiritual Director of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Diocese of Shimoga, celebrated Holy Eucharist and delivered a homily on "service rooted in the love of God." He emphasized that service is founded upon God's love and Word, citing Jesus' example. He underscored the importance of sincerity and commitment in all endeavors, asserting that our reward is God himself. He concluded by acknowledging the exemplary leadership of the laity within various church organizations.

Following the Creed, Mr. Walter Martis, President of the Central Council, presided over the oath of office ceremony. Mr. Paul Govias assumed the role of inaugural president of the SVP unit, marking the official inauguration of the SVP unit by the Good Shepherd Church.

Following Mass, Parish Priest Fr. Stephen Maxi Albuquerque offered congratulations to the newly installed SVP president and members. He also expressed his gratitude to Fr. Franklin D'Souza for his spiritual guidance.
