Shivamogga, July 2, 2024: Meeting of the Directors of Shimoga Diocesan Commissions held on June 1st 9:30am to 1pm at 'Sannidhi', Centre for Pastoral Renewal of Diocese of Shimoga.

Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of Diocese of Shimoga Chaired the Meeting. Rev. Fr Simon Pinto Coordinator of the Commissions organised the meeting.

Rev. Fr Franklin D'Souza, Secretary for the Diocesan Youth Commission led the prayer. Rev. Fr Roman Pinto, Dean of Maria Vianney Deanery welcomed the gathering. He welcomed Bishop Francis Serrao SJ, Monsignor Felix Joseph Noronha, Vicar General of the Diocese, Deans as well as Commission Directors.

Rev. Fr Stany D'Souza, Dean of Mount Carmel Deanery, Rev. Fr George K A, Dean of Little Flower Deanery and Rev. Fr Roman Pinto Dean of Maria Vianney Deanery presented the Deanery reports and Action plan for coming months.

At 10:30am New Commission Directors took the Oath of fidelity in the Chapel. Bishop Francis Serrao SJ led the Oath of fidelity. Those who took the Oath were; Rev. Fr Simon Pinto, Director of the Commission for Inter-religious and Ecumenism, Rev. Fr Franklin D'Souza, Director of the Commission for Vocation and Formation as well as Director of the Commission for Youth, Rev. Fr Roshan Pinto, Director of the Commission for Education, Rev. Fr Vinuth Balu, Director of Commission for Social Communication, Rev. Fr Venil D'Silva, Director of the Commission for Family Apostolate and,Rev. Fr Pius D'Souza, Director of the Commission for Social Concerns and Development as,well as Justice and peace.

At 11am Commissions presented their reports as well as action plan. Namely; Basic Ecclesial Communities, 'Subhoda' - Bible and Catechesis, Liturgy, Ecumenism, Education, Environment, 'Sanjeevana' - Family, Health, Inter-religious Dialogue, Justice and peace, Labour, Laity, Pastoral Care of the differently able, Pastoral Care of the Migrants and Itinerary, Proclamation and Evangelization, SC/ST/BC, Social Concerns and development, Social Communications, Vocation and Formation, Women, Youth and Prison ministry.

Coordinator led thd interventions and Questions. Then Bishop Francis Serrao SJ appreciated the services of every commissions. He gave some inputs to how to go about it. He also asked Directors to network with one another. So that we may not repeat as well as overlap the work.

Coordinator shared some useful informations and gave the concluding remarks.
