Mangalore, Sep. 22: Rev. Fr. Franklin Phillip D’Souza, Executive Secretary of CBCI Office for Youth as well as National Youth Director of ICYM conducted three days Course on “Youth Ministry and Role of the Youth Animator” for the IV year theologians (Deacons) from September 19th to 21st ,2011 at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore.
On 19th 8.30am Deacon Paul welcomed Fr Franklin. Then Fr Franklin gave a Motivation class on “New way of being Church in India-Youth Ministry”. He shared his own experiences in the youth ministry as animator. He told that there are` three types of people they are; 1)Come and go people- who exists and exit,2)Let me do something- they ask the question why?, and 3)Why not I? They jump in to the situation; they are the real contributors in the growth of humanity. That’s what we have to do as animators. At noon Mr. Roshan Madta, Ex ICYM Diocesan President of Mangalore Diocese conducted a session on “Dynamics and skills in Youth Ministry”.
On 20th Fr Franklin gave a session on Youth Ministry in India under the guidance of CBCI, development of YCS, ICYM concepts, how it works today in the Church of India. Mr. Jose Jacob, Ex ICYM er from Bangalore shared his testimony with the deacons. Today being an international consultant how parish youth group as well as diocesan youth director’s motivation helped him to be an achiever. After Lunch Fr Franklin gave and activity to bring out animators mind and young peoples mind. Fr Franklin and Mr. Jose Jacob evaluated the session through an interactive way.
On 21st Fr Franklin spoke on “Youth Reality as well as Youth Spirituality”. He brought out various aspect of changing trend in the youth world yet they are thirsting for God. We are being spiritual leaders how we can help them out To Lead, To Serve and To Shine in the Society. There is a need to blend both spiritual and social aspect today. Mr. Jose Jacob spoke on “challenges in youth ministry and young people’s expectation from the animator”. After the lunch Fr Franklin concluded three days sessions with various reflections on the role of animators.
Fr. Ronald serrao organized the Course for the theologians. 26 brothers and three religious sisters were there. Deacons thanked the team for the inspiring course.
