12th October, Jalandhar, Punjab:The IX National Youth Convention came to a colourful conclusion on 12th October 2013, here in the Trinity College Campus, Jalandhar, Punjab with colourful dance numbers from the students of the Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Jalandhar.
Mr. Binoy Chop, Prime Minister’s Secretary for Media, was the Chief Guest for the concluding Ceremony. Addressing the Youth he said, “Looking at you, I can confidently say that the future of Indian Catholic Church is in safe hands, and the future of India is safe.” He added, “Catholic Church teaches us to have values as priorities,” and suggested, “Make use of this great opportunity of coming over to represent your Dioceses. Don’t stop here, it is only beginning.” He asked the Youth to become National Leaders. He said, “We need future ministers from among you because we learn values from our family, faith and from ICYM.” He asked the leaders of the Church to groom them to make them great leaders and make our country a great country.
The students from nearby schools displayed colourful cultural items to give a fitting conclusion to the IX National Convention.
Bishop Dr. Jacob Mar Barnabas, the Member of CBCI Office for Youth in his concluding message said, “We have seen the presence of the Lord during the days of convention. We have encountered Him. We have been transformed by faith. He has answered us when we called Him. The Lord has been so good to us. I can also confidently say that the future of India is in safe hands.” He also declared the IX National Youth Convention closed. He said, “With gratitude to God and to all those who hard to make this Convention a success, we close this convention. We are transformed by faith. Now let us go back and transform our society and country at large.”
The Northern Regional Youth Director, Rev. Fr. Peter gratefully acknowledged the contribution of all towards this Convention. He said, “Counting the numerous blessings received during the days of convention, we can say that the Northern Region has celebrated the Year of Faith. Everyone has experienced God’s presence. The Living God is amidst us.” He also thanked all the 25 committee Fathers and Sisters for their tireless work to make this IX National Convention a success.
Miss Shanta Peter, National Vice President II of ICYM, proposed the Vote of Thanks to the Local Organizing Committee Members and Mr. Philip M. National Treasurer for ICYM proposed the Vote of thanks for all those people who worked tirelessly to make this IX National Youth Convention here in Jalandhar a BIG SUCSESS.
The IX National Youth Convention Came to end with the Handing over of the CBCI Cross from the Host Region to ICYM National Office.
