February 27, 2022 : Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga celebrated the feast of St. Sebastian at St. Sebastian's Prayer hall at Harishyandra Ghat, Hiriyur.

On February 25th at 6pm, Fr Franklin D'Souza hoisted the flag of St. Sebastian, led the Novena and celebrated mass. He also led the Novena and celebrated mass on Feb 26th.

On Feb 27th, Festal day programme began with 6pm rosary, 6:15pm Procession & Novena and at 7pm Rev. Fr Joseph Thoompanal CMF, Parish Priest of Immaculate Conception Church, Carmelarum, Archdiocese of Bangalore celebrated the Festal mass. He preached a homily on "faith in Jesus like St. Sebastian". He said, "What's important in our lives is faith in Jesus, which helps us to attain eternal life. We need to sustain in faith amidst trials and tribulations. St. Sebastian's life should be an inspiration to all of us to follow Jesus like him".

Parish Priest of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked Rev. Fr Joseph Thoompanal CMF. He also thanked the parishioners for their dedication and service mindedness in celebrating the feast in a grand manner. Food was served to all the faithful.

Faithful of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur has a great devotion to St. Sebastian. They believe that through his intercession Jesus has saved them from many sicknesses. There's a small Prayer hall which is located Three Kilometres away from the main Church. Every year in the month of January they celebrate the feast of St. Sebastian. This year due to COVID wave it was postponed to the last week of February.
