Shivamogga, January 27, 2025 : A week-long Unity Octave prayer was held in the Diocese of Shimoga from January 18 to 25, 2025.
"How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!" (Ps. 133:1)

With the blessings of Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of the Diocese of Shimoga, Rev. Fr. Simon Pinto, Director of the Ecumenism Commission of the Diocese of Shimoga, organized the prayer with different churches around Shivamogga, Davanagere, and Chitradurga districts.

Details of the prayers held:

1. 18th Saturday at 6:00 p.m. — Inauguration Day: Prayer Service presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao, Bishop of Shimoga, and preaching by Pastor Raymond at Sacred Heart Cathedral, B.H. Road, Shimoga.

2. 19th Sunday at 5:30 p.m. — 2nd Day: Prayer Service presided over by Pastor P. D. Yesudass, President, Fellowship, and preaching by Rev. Fr. Simon Pinto, Director, Ecumenism, at Infant Jesus Church, Sharavathi Nagar, Shimoga.

3. 20th Monday at 5:30 p.m. — 3rd Day: Prayer Service presided over by Rev. Fr. Venil D'Silva and preaching by Rev. Paul Shinde at Good Shepherd Church, Gopala, Shimoga.

4. 21st Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. — 4th Day: Prayer Service presided over by Rev. Fr. Dominic Kristuraj SDB and preaching by Rev. Wesley at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Paper Town, Bhadravathi.

5. 22nd Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. — 5-Day Prayer Service presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Arumachadath, Bishop of Bhadravathi, and preaching by Rev. Fr. Santosh Pereira at St. Joseph's Syro-Malabar Church, Sagar Road, Shimoga.

6. 23rd Thursday at 5:30 p.m. — 6-Day Prayer Service presided over by Msgr. Felix Noronha and preaching by Pastor G. Kumar, Secretary, Fellowship, at St. Joseph's Church, Sagar.

7. 24th Friday at 5:00 p.m. — 7-Day Prayer Service presided over by Rev. Fr. Joy Andrade and preaching by Pastor Paul Raj at Little Flower Church, Shikaripura.

8. 25th Saturday at 5:30 p.m. — Concluding Day: Prayer Service presided over by Rev. Fr. Abraham and preaching by Rev. Msgr. Stany D'Souza at St. Thomas CSI Church, Shimoga.

In the Davanagere District Rev. Fr George K A, Rector of Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Harihara organised the Unity Octave Prayers.

In the district of Chitradurga Rev. Fr Shaji SDB organised the Unity Octave Prayers. In the Hiriyur Taluk of Chitradurga District Rev. Fr Ronald D'Cunha, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur organised the Unity Octave Prayers.

The Ecumenism Commission Director, Rev. Fr Simon Pinto, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the successful Unity Octave Prayers.
